I had the pleasure of taking our Girl Scout troop down to the
Cleveland Museum of Art for a lesson in Impressionism.
Our favorites were Monet’s Water Lilies and Degas’ Frieze of Dancers.

We followed up our lesson with an art project
by painting a landscape using chalk dipped in tempera paint.

found in the Impressionist style of painting.
Our Girl Scouts really got into it.

A week ago our very own Cleveland Museum of Art opened up Gallery One,
a brand new one-of-a-kind interactive gallery that lets you create your own tour and explore art throughout the museum.  With its 40′ multi-touch screen,
you can download pieces you are interested in on your own (or rented) iPad.
We are the first to get anything like this.  Museums all over the country have their eye on us.

Before you check it out, download the artlens app to your iPad, update it,
then get your chip and code at the museum and you’ll be ready to download and tour.

The new atrium that opened this past fall is the centerpiece of the museum’s 7-year expansion and was designed to be a bridge between the old and new sections.  It’s a great place to hang out with all of the light and space and amazing acoustics.  It’s the largest free public space in the city.

What a great gem Cleveland has.

It took me a while to start using Instagram, a way to easily modify (make much cooler!)
photos with filters and share through a social network you make public or private.
Already on Facebook, actively posting on my blog – I thought it would be too much.
But it makes my photos much better than the original…
and now I am addicted!

Love this of my daughter, Ruby who snatched up my camera.

My daughter Ruby was in a ballet this past weekend.
They have been working on it for months with
rehearsals every day leading up to the big performances.
It’s amazing how patient the girls can be when it’s something they love.

The amazing Gail.
What a show she turned out!
Oh the little girls…so incredibly sweet waiting their turn.

The finale.

My daughter Ruby wore her bright striped dress the other day paired with neon shoes (notice she selected one of each color).
I couldn’t resist using the bright colors of an
artsy downtown Sarasota neighborhood as a backdrop.

How great is the color in the middle of a construction site?
I’m sure she tolerated the photographing longer than usual
since she had her buddy Sophie with her.
