granola crunch

My friend Lisa makes granola that is out of this world.
I wouldn’t even attempt to make anything as good as her GoGo Granola.
But what I did discover is how much better homemade granola is than anything store-bought.
I found this recipe here in Bon Appétit, the old school way – torn out of a magazine.
Check out the link for additional versions, but here’s mine and it’s delicious!
The egg white adds crunch without extra calories.


Preheat oven to 300°.
Combine 1 large beaten egg white
3 cups old-fashioned oats
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts
 (walnuts + slivered almonds, but pecans would be good!)
1 1/2 cups coconut shavings
1/2 cup agave syrup
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup sesame seeds
2 tablespoons (packed) light brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamonI
In a large bowl; toss to combine. Spread out on a rimmed baking sheet.
Bake granola, stirring every 10 minutes, until golden brown and dry, 40-45 minutes.
Let cool on baking sheet (it will crisp as it cools).
